Coffee is an excellent antioxidant
Coffee is full of tons of great antioxidants such as polyphenols and hydrocinnamic acids. These antioxidants can lower the amount of free radicals in your body, which can have major benefits for egg and sperm health.
Coffee can help with stress reduction
Not surprisingly, stress reduction is incredibly important when trying to get pregnant! Stress reduction has shown to increase odds of getting pregnant by as much as 30%. And while caffeine may increase anxiety for some, for many people the ritual of a cup of coffee is a vital form of stress relief.
The type of coffee you drink matters. Antioxidant benefit can vary from one coffee to another - light to medium roasts have more antioxidants than dark roasts, and organic coffee has more antioxidants than conventional. Conventional coffee also has MASSIVE amounts of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other dangerous chemicals, many of which can impact fertility (and cause a whole host of other health issues).
The amount of caffeine you take in also matters. It's generally recommended that you stay below 200mg caffeine when trying to conceive, and to always stay below that once you're pregnant - higher caffeine intake can dramatically increase your risk of miscarriage.
As long as you are drinking GOOD COFFEE, and not too much, coffee gets a green light. Enjoy!
